Hello Tuch fans! I have an exciting announcement to make, but first, I want to take a moment to say a couple of things.
Tuch started out as a personal design exploration that through your help became a vehicle that helped get my family through the Recession. I really can’t express how grateful I am for that. Your support also helped give me confidence to continue developing the initial ideas behind Tuch. As my first real go at an entrepreneurial endeavor, I made a ton of mistakes. But as Henry Ford said, the only real mistake is one that you don’t learn from. I’ve learned a heck of a lot!
I also wanted to give some explanation why I shut down Tuch a little over a year ago as a bit of catharsis and a preface as I embark on this exciting next endeavor. Tuch existed in a bit of a limbo state because I was doing all this by myself. The business showed potential, but my family and my other work obligations made it difficult to nurture it properly in order to take the leap of adding employees, buying equipment and setting up the business as a viable single source of income. I didn’t meet my high level of expectations at times on the customer service side and that is my biggest regret and I apologize to any of you who experienced that. I realized that I had strengths and weaknesses and that for Tuch to be successful I had to find a way to bring people on board to help take these ideas further and establish a proper business. I’m happy to say that after many discussions I found that person, Ben my business partner.
Ben and I have worked over the last few months to develop a strong business plan and to refine the designs that started as Tuch. We are taking the design legacy of Tuch and launching PACT. In order to raise the capital so that we can set up our own manufacturing and hire employees we are launching a Kickstarter campaign this Tuesday, July 1st.
I’d like to invite you to take a sneak peak at the new designs such as the slim wallet (pictured above) and refinements of the classics like the satchel that is now completely free of any additional hardware. Its just leather now. Every piece has been reworked and refined. We’ve also developed PactMark, an inscribed mark that is unique to each customer that all the PACT pieces you acquire will have. You won’t find any PACT logos. We’ve also upped the quality of leather that we use significantly. We will now feature leather tanned in the USA from the legendary tanneries of Horween, Hermann Oak and Wickett & Craig. You won’t find better leather.
Ben and I hope you love them as much as we do.
In closing, I want to thank you again for your past support and hope that you will find our new pieces irresistible and worthy of following us and sharing with your friends, family, and colleagues.
Tuch for iPhone 5 Cases available for Pre-Order! Shipping in mid to late October. I will post images of the prototype case soon.
iPhone 5 cases coming! I need one in my hands to perfect the fit. A preorder is also in the works. More info soon.
Exciting news! Coming soon is a new addition to our satchel line. I’ve been calling it the Cowboy due to its rugged good looks and thick (3.5mm vs 2.5mm) heavily grained leather. The leather will come in three colors and if we go with the Cowboy theme, I think the color names have to be: Whiskey (above), Tobacco (dark brown), Camp Coffee (black). Another new feature is a detachable strap with heavy duty hardware. It will come in the 13, 15, and 17 sizes. I hope to have the photos done and have it for sale at the end of the week.
Family resemblance? Is it just me… I always had a feeling that Trent Reznor had an otherworldly quality.
Saw Prometheus last night. I highly recommend the IMAX 3D experience for this film.
This is totally badass! With the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of California in full swing, I would love to have this close to home.
New leather type! Goat skin. It has a softer sueded interior, it’s whiter, and it has a more pronounced grain. This will be a limited edition run of only 250 for the iPhone 4. It is available as in wallet form as well as a sleeve. Get one now while they last.
New lower prices on the 13” and 15” Satchels. Always love it when we can do that!
We’ve had some issues with our equipment and had to find someone to farm out the cutting until we sort out our equipment. Our products are designed with very tight tolerances and a .5mm discrepancy can ruin a piece. That kind of equipment is pretty rare around here so our options have been narrow. We had been originally told we would have parts cut last week, but that turned out to not be the case as they had an equipment failure too. They’ve told us that the new date should be Wednesday of this week. I’m really hoping this is the case.
I’m really sorry for the delay.
